Esha Deol opens up about period restrictions at home

Bollywood actor Esha Deol recently shed light on the restrictions she faces at home during menstruation. She shared that despite being surrounded by strong women, Esha admitted that there were no open discussions about periods during her upbringing.
Esha, daughter of veteran actors Hema Malini and Dharmendra, grew up in a household managed by women, including her grandmother Jaya Chakravarthy and her grand aunt. Speaking to Hauterfly, the actor shared, “We were not allowed to go to the temple and pray. When it is done, you can wash your hair and then you can pray. That’s just an orthodox way and I follow. I respect it if that’s a part of the house you live in.”
Esha also shared that she gained knowledge about sex education through her school curriculum. “I learnt about it at school. Our school had sex education, and they taught us well and at the right time. And it is important. There are a few parents who feel uncomfortable and shy”, she said.
In the same interview, Esha described her upbringing at home. She recalled her grandmother’s strictness and the restrictions imposed on her, such as not wearing spaghetti straps or short skirts when going out.
“My grandmother was the CCTV camera of the house. As soon as me and my friends would walk into the house, my nani would be watching TV and through her specs, she would see who was coming and leaving. My friends who would come to meet me, they would come wearing whatever they want inside, but on top, they would wear a shirt and remove it in my room. Late nights were not allowed”, she shared.
Work-wise, Esha Deol was last seen in Hunter: Tootega Nahi Todega alongside Suniel Shetty, Barkha Bisht and Rahul Dev.
